In 1945, soldiers under the command of captain Neustroev stormed the main entrance to the Reichstag. Scouts of his battalion red army men M. V. Kantaria and M. A. Egorov under the leadership of second Lieutenant A.P. Berest, hoisted the banner of Victory over the Reichstag.
