№ 35-37. Ducks.

A garganey is a small duck, living in small basins of steppes, forest-steppes and a sothern part of taiga. It is a typical carnivorous duck. Eats mollusca.

In the western part of Russia the Common Pochard lives almost everywhere in the European part, reaching the taiga district. In western Siberia it lives in steppes and forest-steppes. In the East it also lives at the Baikal. It prefers sea bays and large lakes.

Falcated Duck is a middle-sized one, living at the basins of the taiga district with huge onshore vegetation. Falcated Ducks is protected by the game laws and is included into the list of species of the Soviet-Indian convention of the migratory birds protection.
