№ 1202-1204. Fauna. The endangered animal species

The Oriental Stork is the rare species which is classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, Red List of Russia, Korea and China. The Oriental Stork is mainly settled on the territory of the Russian Federation. As it is seen from its name this species have their nests mostly in the Far East, namely at the Amur River basin, Seaboard, Amur, Zeya, Ussuri river basins and also in the northern Korea and the north-eastern China and in Mongolia.

The Snow Leopard or Ounce has range in the Altai, Kyrgyz Republic, eastern and western Sayan Mountains. They migrate from Mongolia to the south-eastern Trans-Baikal. The Snow Leopard is adapted to inhabitation in hard climate conditions and in spite of its name this beast of prey is not adapted to move in conditions of the deep and friable snow. Mainly The Snow Leopard is a rock beast, because it can be often found on the ledge rocks, where the snow is blown away or melts under the sunshine rays (they are called “kungei” at the Tien Shan), so it is easier for the Snow Leopard to hunt there.

The Wisent is the largest and the heaviest land mammal in Europe and the last European species of buffalos. The European Bison or Bison bonasus is timid enough. As the Wisent is shortsighted, it is not easy for it to view the figure of man and when the wind blows to the side opposite for him it has to come near and this curiosity always seems to people as readiness to attack. Usually the Wisent grunts lowly, when the beast is frightened it spits, annoyed beast usually grumbles.
