November 22, a cancellation ceremony of a postage stamp dedicated to "Spartak" stadium was held

The participants of the ceremony were Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency; Dmitry Godunov, Chief Operating Officer of the Organizing Committee for preparation and holding of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™; Sergei Cheban, Executive Director of the Russian Football Premier League; and Nail Ismailov, Vice-president of “Spartak- Moscow” Football Club.



Postage stamp is issued in the series “The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Stadiums” and is dedicated to the stadium “Spartak”, where the matches of the Championship will be played in 2018.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ will be the 21st edition of the tournament and is set to take place from 14 June until 15 July 2018. For the first time in history, Russia will host the FIFA World Cup™ and it will also be the first time the tournament is held simultaneously across two continents — Europe and Asia. The tournament will be hosted at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities.



Spartak Stadium is one of the largest sports complexes in Moscow. It was opened in 2014 in the territory of the Tushino Airfield. Spartak Stadium (Otkrytiye Arena) is outfitted with ultramodern equipment and meets all the safety requirements. It consists of a football field with stand of 40,000-people capacity. Two hockey arenas, a tennis academy, a water sports center, several sports schools and two kindergartens with a sports bias are to be constructed in the territory of the stadium.

“Postage stamps dedicated to the stadiums of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ are not only an ornament to any philatelic collection, but are clearly demonstrate the quality and the beauty of our sport facilities to the world," - said Oleg Dukhovnitskiy, Head of the Federal Communications Agency.

Additionally, FSUE PTC “Marka” manufactured an illustrated cover with four stamps and a first day cover with cancellation (Moscow) inside.



Other eight stadiums will be depicted on the postage stamps in the next issues of the programme dedicated to 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
