A philatelic exhibition dedicated to the history of cosmonautics has opened in the Collectioner show room

On March 4, on the threshold of the 90th Birth Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin, the first cosmonaut of the Earth, and the International Day of Cosmonautics, thematic philatelic exhibition History of National Cosmonautics opened in the Collectioner show room of the Marka publishing house.

The exposition is unique in that for the first time all issues of stamps of the Russian Federation on space subjects, which were put into postal circulation since 1992, have been collected here. In addition to stamps, most of the illustrated pre-stamped envelopes and postcards on this subject matter issued during the same period are presented.

The first postage stamp dedicated to the space age was issued in the USSR in 1957, commemorating the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite. Since then, the space theme has occupied an important place on valuable postal matter and attracted the attention of the entire world philatelic community. The exhibit demonstrates materials about scientists and designers of Russian rocket and space technology, pilot-cosmonauts, a study of near-the-earth and deep space and astronomy. Philatelists pay special attention to stamps dedicated to Yuri Gagarin. Six different postal miniatures were dedicated to him in the Russian Federation. Alongside with the stamps, more than a dozen of postal illustrated pre-stamped envelopes and postcards have been issued. All these materials can be seen in the showcases of the thematic exhibition.

The exhibition will run until April 15 of 2024 at the address: Collectioner show room, 118 prosp. Mira, Moscow.
