On February 11, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to Grigory A. Rechkalov, airplane pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, will go into postal circulation in the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 series

Grigory A. Rechkalov (1920−1990) was a Soviet ace pilot, twice the Hero of the Soviet Union, major general of aviation. During the Great Patriotic War, he performed more than 450 combat flights, in 122 air fights shot down personally 61 enemy planes, and 4 more aircrafts in group sorties.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin (1943), the Orders of the Red Banner (1942, 1943, 1944), the Order of Alexander Nevsky (1943), the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st class (1985), the Orders of the Red Star (1943, 1944); and medals.

The envelope with a commemorative stamp provides an image of an emblem of the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945; the main image portraits G. Rechkalov against AeroCobra fighter aircraft and two Golden Star medals.



In addition to the emission of the envelope with a commemorative stamp, JSC Marka will produce special cancels for Moscow and Ekaterinburg.
